Spring is in the air! The purple dead nettles are popping up everywhere! They are so amazing and have many uses.


Purple dead nettle (Lamium purpureum) is a lovely and often overlooked wild herb that’s rich in nutrients and has gentle medicinal properties.

  • It is an antihistamine, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory. Antioxidant

  • It's loaded with nutrients

  • It can stop bleeding

  • It's great for the cardiovascular system and the gut microbiome

  • It a great source for quercetin which helps with the immune system

  • You can add it to stir-fry, use fresh or dried plant material in teas. It's also great for allergies! You can also tincture it.

  • It's in the mint family although it tastes nothing like mint! Look around see if you can find some! If there aren't dogs around or the use of pesticides have a try!
